Art Portfolio Development for Middle Schoolers

This program focuses on developing foundational drawing and design skills to prepare middle schoolers for NYC’s Visual Arts High School admissions. Participants will be given exercises to deepen observational and figure drawing skills. Students will also be shown successful examples of accepted portfolios to NYC art high schools. We welcome all participants who enjoy sketching original characters and unique worlds. Together, we will explore the fundamentals of light and shadow, texture, depth, proportion, scale, and figure-ground relationship with a range of free materials. The goal will be for participants to leave with finished pieces they can use for portfolio auditions. Register here: https://qlmarketing.typeform.com/to/zKQ7mC4r Registration is required. This series is presented in partnership with Teen Art Salon, a Long Island City-based organization which provides young people with open-door, free-of-charge art instruction.
