Caribbean Heritage Month: Literary Thursdays: Shenequa Golding and “A Black Girl in the Middle”

Join us for a special in-person episode of Literary Thursdays, in honor of Caribbean American Heritage Month! Shenequa Golding is a lifelong resident of Queens and loves to call the borough her home. Her first book is a smart and sophisticated collection of 12 essays in which she shares her lived experience as a Black woman. She discusses a variety of topics—from choosing coffee over sex, loving Saturday morning cartoons, and appreciating early bedtimes, to challenging narratives about flippant racism, Black death, sexual assault, an absentee father, and lost friendships—peppered with jokes and humorous asides along the way.
