Children's Computer Literacy Program

Kids ages 6-12 have one more way to learn while having fun at the South Jamaica Community Library. At the Children's Computer Literacy Program, children will learn computer skills through a variety of projects like creating a flyer in Word or designing your own water park using Paint, MS Word, and MS Excel.

Bricks4Kidz LEGO Robotics workshop

Join us at South Jamaica for a free, educational, and fun LEGO Robotics workshop!
During LEGO Robotics, children and teens will use LEGOs, motors, and batteries to create robots that crawl, drive, launch, race, and much more! This is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles, and other structures out of LEGO® bricks. Children work as a team while exploring principles of engineering, architecture, physics, and more. This program is for ages 5 and up.

A Reptile "Edventure" with Erik Callender

This fun-filled educational experience gives children age 6 and up a unique opportunity to see and learn about The Reptile Guy's animal science, rescue, and awareness. Meet reptiles, amphibians, and even some large insects from around the world.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
