ACT UP-NY
ACT UP — the AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power — is a diverse, non-partisan group of individuals, united in anger and committed to direct action to end the AIDS crisis. They meet with government officials, distribute the latest medical information, protest, and demonstrate.
Ali Forney Center
Their mission is to protect LGBTQ youths from the harms of homelessness and empower them with the tools needed to live independently. It is the largest agency dedicated to LGBTQ homeless youths in the country—assisting nearly 1,400 youths per year through a 24-hour Drop-In Center, which provides over 70,000 meals annually, medical and mental health services through an on-site clinic, and a scattered site housing program.
AVER: American Veterans for Equal Rights
AVER is a veterans’ service organization of patriotic lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender American armed forces veterans and service members who are proud to have served their country, and their lovers, partners, spouses, supporters, friends and family.
African Ancestral Lesbians United for Societal Change (AALUSC)
AALUSC provides a community space for and by same gender loving womyn across the African Diaspora, regardless of language, class, or culture, to gather and be active participants in sustaining and growing their community.
Audre Lorde Project
The Audre Lorde Project (ALP) is a community organizing center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two-Spirit, Trans and Gender Non Conforming (LGBTSTGNC) people seeking social and economic justice for all people. ALP is committed to promoting multi-racial coalition-building, advocacy and community organizing activities among LGBTSTGNC people of color, and with allies in struggles for equality and liberation.
Caribbean Equality Project
The Caribbean Equality Project is a Queens, New York-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization that empowers and strengthens the marginalized voices of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people of Caribbean origin and descent through advocacy, community organizing, education, and cultural and social programming.
The Center
The Center fosters a welcoming environment where everyone is celebrated for who they are. They offer the LGBTQ communities of NYC advocacy, health and wellness programs; arts, entertainment and cultural events; and recovery, parenthood, and family support services.
Covenant House New York: LGBTQ Youth
Covenant House New York is NYC’s largest service provider for young people experiencing homelessness. Thirty-four percent of youth at Covenant House New York identify as LGBTQ. Covenant House New York works with LGBTQ youth using trauma-informed and evidence-based practices, and all of their staff participate in specialized training to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and awareness to support LGBTQ youth.
Equality NY
Equality New York (EQNY) is an advocacy organization that unites and amplifies the social and political voices of the LGBTQI communities throughout New York State. They work to advance equality and justice for LGBTQI New Yorkers and their families. EQNY uses an intersectional lens to ensure equitable outcomes for their community.
Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC)
GMHC provides HIV and STI testing, food and nutrition programs, housing support, workforce development, legal assistance, advocacy for benefits and health insurance, mental health and emotional support, substance use counseling, and much more.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives.

With a new name, logo, identity, and website, Glisten (formerly know as GLSEN) is a national nonprofit continuing the mission they have pursued since 1990: creating safe and inclusive school environments for LGBTQ+ youth.
Hetrick-Martin Institute
Hetrick-Martin Institute believes all young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential. The LaGuardia and Wagner Archives was established in 1982 to collect, preserve, and make available primary materials documenting the social and political history of New York City, with an emphasis on the mayoralty and the borough of Queens. The Archives serves researchers, journalists, students, scholars, exhibit planners, and policy makers examining the history of Greater New York. The Archives also produces public programs exploring that history. Its website provides a webdatabase to the collections, which include more than 100,000 digitized photos, and nearly 2.5 million digitized documents.
