Indie Author Day at Queens Library!

In October, libraries across North America will host Indie Author Day events to bring local writing and reading communities together.

Join us on Saturday, October 20 at Central Library in Jamaica for children’s book readings, a publishing workshop, and more.

Please Note: the national celebration of Indie Author Day is Saturday, October 13, but several local events across North America, including Queens Library's, will take place on Saturday, October 20.

Queens Central Library
Saturday, October 20

89-11 Merrick Boulevard, Jamaica

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Book Sale and Signing by Local Authors
This all-day event will take place in the Main Lobby, near the Children’s Library Discovery Center.

2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Publishing 101
In this workshop in our Auditorium with Kate Angus, the founding editor of Augury Books, you will learn the ins-and-outs of how to find an audience for your work, as well as tips for properly approaching publishers. We will also discuss the merits and drawbacks of self-publishing. There will be a Q&A session with the audience.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m.: Children’s Authors Book Readings
Local children’s authors will read their latest work to children under 12 years old. This event will take place on the second floor of the Children’s Library Discovery Center.
