Youth Literacy Classes

For at-risk youth (ages 17 to 24) who have left school without the necessary reading, writing and math skills for a GED class

The Youth Literacy classes offer

  • Reading, writing and math instruction in small classes
  • Individual attention from teachers and case workers
  • GED class referral when students are ready to move on
  • Computers for learning and research
  • Internships and job referrals
  • Free MetroCards and other incentives


Classes are offered at three Queens Library locations

Central Library Annex in Jamaica, Long Island City Community Library and Queens Library for Teens in Far Rockaway. Call (718) 480-4300 for information on schedule and availability of classes.
