How do I use my account online?

How do I request a book?

If you would like to request a book in person or on the phone, all you need is your library card number and you may ask your local librarian to put in a request for you. If you would like to request a book online, simply click on the "Log in to Request" or “Request” button (if you have already logged in) and follow the instructions. A “Request” button is available on all items that you are allowed to place a request on. You will need your library card number and PIN to place a request online. To keep popular materials in circulation for all Queens Library customers, a 25-cent fee will be charged for each requested item not picked up.

How do I find information about Queens Library fees?

On www.queenslibrary.org, go to Services -> Get a Library Card ->Extended Use Fees

Additionally, if you have any outstanding fees they will show when you are logged in to My Account

Can I update my username, email address and PIN online?

You can update your username, PIN and email address on www.queenslibrary.org. After you log in into My Account online with your library card or user name and PIN, go to Preferences and follow the instructions on the screen.

Can I access "My Account" from home?

Yes. You will need a Queens Library card and PIN. The service may be reached on a 24/7 basis wherever Internet access is available. You can use this service directly from the Queens Library's Home Page. To protect your privacy, remember to log off your account each time.

After I submit my library card application, when will I receive my card?

Once your application has been processed and approved you will receive a confirmation email with your username and temporary PIN.

What should I do if my address has changed since I completed the online application?

If the address provided on the application has changed or you wish to use another address, send an email to customerservice@queenslibrary.org notifying them of the address to use.

If I do not live, own property, work or go to school in NYS, can I apply for a Queens Library card?

If you do not live, own property, work or go to school in New York State you may purchase a non-resident card for an annual fee of $50.00.

What if I do not visit a Queens Library within 60 days to borrow books with a non-resident library card?

If you do not use your card in 60 days, contact the Central Circulation Services Division at (718) 990-0771 or (718) 990-0507 to request to have your validation period extended.

What is "My Account"?

This online service provides library account information to Queens Library customers. You may place requests for many types of materials to be held for you at a specific location. You can also determine what materials are overdue, what materials are being held for you, and what extended use fees you may owe. This service can be accessed from any Queens Library computer or from any computer that has Internet access.

Why am I not able to renew an item?

You will not be able to renew materials if another customer has requested materials you have borrowed, your library card is or will be expiring soon, or your items have been renewed 3 times. For more details click My Account page.

How will confidentiality of my customer information be protected?

No one can access your account without your PIN, so keep it confidential. Without that number there is no access to your personal account information. You should always exit or logout of "My Account" when finished. If you forget to exit the session, it will time out after five minutes. Re-entry of the PIN will be required at that time to access your account.

What if I receive an error message when trying to access "My Account"?

If any online services are down or being upgraded, it is not possible to obtain account information. Please try the service at a later time.

What is a PIN?

PIN is the acronym for "Personal Identification Number." Your library PIN is four digits in length and is required when you attempt to access your account. When you open your library account you are required to set up a PIN. You may change your PIN afterward at the circulation desk of any Queens Library or change it online once you've logged into My Account.

Will I be able to pay my fees online?

Yes, the Queens Library accepts online fee payment at www.queenslibrary.org.
