Venus Wong is a Guyanese-born contemporary painter based in Maryland, where she works from her home studio. Born in New Amsterdam, Berbice, she grew up deeply connected to all facets of Guyanese culture, a connection that continues to inform her artistic practice and worldview.
After settling in the United States, she returned to painting as an adult and developed a practice exploring texture, atmosphere, and emotional depth through layered compositions and landscape-inspired imagery.
Working in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and alcohol ink, her work is held in private collections across the United States, Canada, and Guyana.
Venus Wong's art will be exhibited during Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, from Thursday, May 7, through Thursday, May 28 (excluding May 23-25).
Join us for our artist meet-and-greet on Saturday, May 16 at 11am.
