Join artist Isa Dorvillier for a community sewing day! For the past year, Isa has worked as a storyteller in residence with Newtown Creek Alliance and Melting Metropolis researching how extreme summer heat affects the communities around the Newtown Creek. In this hands-on workshop, participants will work together to construct a collaborative artwork using images from the QPL archives to reflect on the legacy of extreme heat in NYC. The final artwork will debut during NYC Climate Week. Sewing experience is helpful but not required and all materials will be provided.
