FDNY CPR Training (Non-Certificate, Compression-Only Training)
The FDNY CPR Program offers hands-only CPR (please note: this program does not offer CPR certification). The classes are taught by certified FDNY EMS members. Hands-Only CPR involves pressing on a cardiac arrest victim’s chest without performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The goal of these classes is to equip New Yorkers with the basic skills needed to take action in the event of a cardiac arrest emergency.
Program participants are provided with the following:
- Skilled demonstrations and hands-on practice for performing hands-only CPR. (with mannequins)
- Basic instruction on how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
- Additional information for identifying a person in need of CPR and other resources.
To date, the program has successfully trained thousands of New Yorkers in this lifesaving technique.
