In this in-person series for ages 50+, attendees will use frame drums to explore the basics of rhythm, musicality, and style. Drums are one of the oldest instruments and can be experienced in music throughout the world. As we develop our drum skills, we'll also explore the rich history of the percussive arts. The frame drum is a wonderful place to begin or continue musical growth. It is easy to pick up and can be studied for a lifetime. There are no pre-requisites for this course and any level of player is welcome. All drums and musical materials will be provided. By the end of the four two-hour sessions, participants will be able to read rhythmic notation, produce a variety of tones, groove, and improvise.
Registration begins Monday, January 9, 2023. Please call the Glen Oaks Library at 718-831-8636 to preregister.
