Caribbean Heritage Month: Omo Ikoko, The Band

Celebrate Caribbean heritage with Omo Ikoko, a name that translates to "only or first child." This band brings together a musical sound they call "Afro-Cari-Beat" - a mixture of African drum rhythms; Calypso, Soca, and Reggae melodies; and a little Jazz and Blues. The syncopated beat of the drums is accompanied by the harmony of keys and the steadiness of traps, all accented with playful percussion. Omo Ikoko will have you dancing to the beat of their "feel good" music. It is founded and led by Jamal George (also known as Jaa Lih), a multi-dynamic musician, dancer, storyteller, and spoken word artist from Trinidad and Tobago.
