Be Proud, Be Counted: Mapping the Languages of Queens

Did you know that 637 language varieties are spoken in New York City? For the last six years, the Endangered Language Alliance (ELA) has been working with speakers and communities to map the lesser-known, minority, endangered, and indigenous languages of the New York area. With speakers from smaller-language communities, ELA Co-Director Ross Perlin will dig into the linguistic diversity of “the world’s borough” and explain what ELA has learned through mapping it.
