Healthy Book Talk: "The Gifts of Imperfection"

Inspiring Women in Science: Maria Sibylla Merian & the Life of a Butterfly

While learning about how caterpillars turn into butterflies, we will also discuss the life of Maria Sibylla Merian, who was a pioneering woman in science. We will view some of her drawings and after learning about Maria and her work we will make a simple craft.

Guided Meditation

Learn To Do Patchwork Quilt Block: Cathedral Window

Location: Broad Channel
Registration: Registration is not yet open for this program. Please check back closer to the program date.

Artist Alacia Stubbs will guide you in sewing a patchwork block in the cathedral window pattern. This is a very decorative patchwork pattern that can be framed and used as a wall hanging.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
