Language Learning Group for Beginners in Mandarin Chinese

Availability: 11 openings

Have you ever wished you could speak Mandarin Chinese? Learn how to use Transparent Language Online and benefit from an eight-week group learning experience too! You will need a Queens Library card and a computer, tablet, or smartphone to access Transparent Language to do your weekly assignments. Bring your device to the first session for help in setting up your Transparent Language Online account. Space is limited and preregistration is required.

Create a unique family flag that celebrates your heritage, using a variety of materials. Combine colors and shapes from the flags of your country or countries of origin, or use colors and pictures that are meaningful to your family. This program is for families with children ages 5-12 years.

Navigating the Health Care System

Gain insight about long-term care planning including Medicaid enrollment, navigating the healthcare system, and much more that can help you and your loved ones prepare for the road ahead. This program is presented by Sunnyside Community Services/CARE NYC.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
