Kidney Health

About half of all adults in the US have one or more chronic health condition and more than 20 million people in the US may have chronic kidney disease, a condition where your kidneys are damaged and cannot filter blood as well as healthy kidneys. Come learn about kidney diseases and some of the conditions that often accompany kidney disease from a nephrologist, Dr. Coritsidis.

Babywearing Education

Do you have a baby carrier you've been meaning to use, but feel overwhelmed every time you try? Are you familiar with babywearing safety? Babywearing International of NYC's team of volunteer babywearing educators are here to help! Explore our baby carrier lending and teaching library, or bring your own carrier from home, to get hands-on support.

All caregivers are welcome. Meetings are baby, toddler, and older child-friendly.

Save Money, E-File Your Taxes for Free

If your income is under $66,000, you qualify to receive free online tax return filing assistance. Volunteers from the New York State Tax Department will guide you through tax preparation software available on their website as you learn how to prepare and e-file your federal and state income tax returns at no cost. Volunteers will be available that speak English and Spanish.

A evil stepmother, a wicked stepbrother, and a father, King Cymbeline, who is no help at all are giving the Princess a rough time. Creative Writing with "Citizen": Writing about Racism through Emotion and Image

In "Citizen: An American Lyric", Claudia Rankine explores the large and small ways racism impacts people of color every day of their lives. In this workshop, led by Nancy Agabian, all are welcome to write about the emotions that come from experiencing and witnessing racism, in and outside of ourselves, on the street, in our workplaces and schools, on TV, and in sports arenas. This program is part of the Big Read in partnership with St. John's University

Film Screening and Sing-Along of "West Side Story"

Location: Woodside

Join us for a screening and a sing-along of the romantic musical update and winner of ten Oscars, "Romeo and Juliet". The Stephen Sondheim/Leonard Bernstein score is just one of the reasons this film has captivated audiences for more than five decades. We invite you to sing along to memorable numbers such as "Maria", "Tonight", "I Feel Pretty", and "One Hand, One Heart”, to name a few.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
