In this exhibit, Filipino/a/x immigrants teach us about tapping into our resourcefulness, community power, resilience, hope, faith, and strength (lakas ng loob). Enjoy photos and video from interviews with Filipino/a/x immigrants, and learn about how the Fil-Am artist team engaged the community in this arts project.

Moving for Life

Moving for Life incorporates gentle warm-ups, light aerobics, and targeted strengthening in a way that is fun and enjoyable for all! Workouts can be done seated or standing. You are encouraged to do what is comfortable and modify based on your energy, range of motion, or fitness level. We start where you are, so don’t worry if you haven’t been moving in a while. This program is first-come, first- served and for adults 18 and older.

Do you have a baby carrier you've been meaning to use, but feel overwhelmed every time you try? Are you familiar with babywearing safety? Babywearing International of NYC's team of volunteer babywearing educators are here to help! Join us for this introductory workshop to learn how to access, filter, and analyze information about your neighborhood from New York City’s open data platform.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
