Remember Y(our) Connection/Tandaan Ang Ating Ugnayan: Filipino Wisdom in the Face of Climate Change

How do we survive and thrive in the face of climate change? In this exhibit, Filipino/a/x immigrants teach us about tapping into our resourcefulness, community power, resilience, hope, faith, and strength (lakas ng loob). Enjoy photos and video from interviews with Filipino/a/x immigrants, and learn about how the Fil-Am artist team engaged the community in this arts project.

Bring Your Story: Celebrate EID and Make Rasgulla (Traditional dessert) In English and Bengali

Rasgulla is a special sweet in Bangladesh that people eat during Eid or other special holidays. It is made from ball-shaped dumplings of “chhena” (cottage cheese) and semolina dough cooked in light syrup made of sugar. Learn how to make this delicious treat, which is also famous in other South Asian countries. This program is in English and Bengali.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
