Free Writing Classes: You Found a Poem in the Stars: Using the Cosmos to Write Poetry of the Self

Poet Joey De Jesus leads an interactive workshop where participants will read, discuss, and apply poetry techniques to create poems of the self with language found in astrological/mythological texts and glossaries from across cultural traditions. Do you have a baby carrier you've been meaning to use, but feel overwhelmed every time you try? Are you familiar with babywearing safety? Babywearing International of NYC's team of volunteer babywearing educators are here to help! Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
