Christmas Story and Craft

Vacation Fun Time

Location: Whitestone
Registration: Not required

Join us for six tables of fun, games, and learning. Table One will be a craft table. Table Two is a coloring table with lots of coloring pages and crayons. Table Three is the learning table with lots of math worksheets. Table Four has games for all ages. Table Five is the Legos table with a box of Legos to create something. Table Six is the Dewey table. Dewey is the library cat we found a few years ago in our driveway. There will be lots of cat books, cat coloring pages, and cat games.

Hope in the Midst of Crisis: Presented by Global Harmony House Meditation Center

Learn how to shield your mind from panic in times of confusion. We will explore how to:
1. See crisis as an opportunity to advance in life.
2. Learn the lesson it is teaching.
3. Detach from the situation in order to face it.
4. Act on inner wisdom to deal with it effectively.

What You Need to Know about Cancer and Being Your Healthiest and Happiest

Location: Whitestone
Registration: Not required

Come learn key information about protecting our health from cancer and other illnesses, including facts and statistics about cancer, as well as who should be screened and when. We will also focus on strengthening our communication skills to encourage those we love who are at risk to pursue relevant health care. Participants will have a chance to ask licensed health professionals important health questions in an open and encouraging environment.

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
