Working with Clay: A Workshop

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Chef Margarita Larios

Location: Sunnyside

Learn to prepare delicious enchiladas made of a corn tortilla rolled around and filled with chicken or vegetables, we will use three different types of sauces, sprinkled with lettuce, cheese and cream. Limited Supplies, on a first come, first-served basis. Queens Library is not responsible for any illnesses resulting from tasting the food. Healthy Homes

Creative Aging: Pastel Art Workshop

Location: Sunnyside
Registration: Online or by phone
Availability: 4 openings

Participants will strengthen their drawing skills by working with oil-based pastels. We will explore the range of techniques pastels offer, as well as examine the medium's potential for expressiveness. Participants will also spend time working with photo-based imagery as a source and point of departure in constructed drawings. Preregistration and a commitment to attend all sessions is required. Tenant Rights in Rent Controlled, Rent Stabilized, or Unregulated Apartments

Music and Movement Workshop for Seniors

Linda Choldenko leads a music and movement workshop for seniors 50+. Ms. Choldenko is professional dancer, director, and choreographer. She worked on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theatre, touring companies, and in Paris and Montreal. She has been a Teaching Artist with Lincoln Center for 20 years.

Animal Show with Jason Reilly

Location: Sunnyside
Registration: Not required

Join Jason Reilly as he introduces his animal friends. Children will learn where these animals are from, what they eat, when they sleep, and how they protect themselves. Meet frogs, bugs, a bunny, guinea pigs, chinchillas, mice, reptiles, birds, hermit crabs, and a chicken. Enjoy dancing, singing, and a surprise activity at the end of the show.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
