Tips to Stay Heart Healthy From Mount Sinai Hospital

Location: Steinway

Dr. Ahmed El-Eshmawi will explain how the heart functions as one of the most important muscles in your body, and will explain how the four heart valves work to keep you healthy. He will explain what happens when the mitral valve, the main valve on the left side of the heart, stops working correctly, and the latest techniques for fixing mitral valve disease. He will also provide tips to stay heart healthy.

How to Do Business with the NYC Department of Education--in Spanish

Location: Steinway

For small business owners and minority women business owners this presentation will give your business insight into opportunities to sell your goods and services to the nation’s largest school system with 1,700 schools, 1.1 million students, and 138,000 employees. NYCDOE contracts with a vast array of vendors to purchase the goods and services necessary to ensure that students will have all they need to receive the quality education they deserve.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
