Early Detection Education for Breast and Colon Cancer

Location: South Ozone Park

Ms. Shadiyah Evans with the NorthWell/LIJ Cancer Services Program will provide information on the importance of early screenings to detect various cancers. There will be a demonstration on how to perform self- examinations, and additionally she will provide resources about "no cost screenings" and other important resources through the CSP. There will be a Q & A session with informational handouts and give-aways.

Fall Prevention

Learn how to prevent falls through understanding the medical and environmental causes of falls. We will review safety devices, equipment, and a home safety checklist that can help keep you and your loved ones safe and free from injury. Lastly, we will learn together the "ABC Exercise" that will help keep you in good step. All are welcome!

New York State has custody of over $14 billion in unclaimed funds. Every day the Comptroller's Office returns approximately $1 million to owners; are you one of them? Representatives from the Office of the New York State Comptroller, Intergovernmental and Community Affairs Division, will provide information about the New York State Unclaimed Funds program and assist attendees in searching for and processing any unclaimed funds due to them.

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
