That's What She Said (Display)

Location: St.Albans
Registration: Not required

In observance of Women's History Month in March, we will have an interactive display that features quotes by notable women, accompanied by images of each. The user will read the quote and try to guess who said it. To check their answers, the user lifts the sheet of paper to see the name of the woman, her image, and her birth and death dates (when applicable).

St Albans Community Poet-Tree

Add a Leaf to the St. Albans Community Library Poet-Tree. The Poet-Tree is decorated with leaves of poetry. Library customers can add a leaf to our Poet-Tree by picking a paper leaf and adding a poem or a poem fragment to the leaf.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Date Formed: February 10, 1992; re-chartered on July 3rd 1998; re-chartered November 15, 2007

Significant Accomplishments: Since 1994, the Friend has organized the annual Essay/Poetry Contests for community’s elementary students. Sponsored several arts and crafts exhibitions of the works of local community artists and craftspeople. The Friends have purchased computers and laptop table and electric work; and you can always count on seeing the Friends on our Annual Bus Trips to Albany and City Hall.
