PRE-HSE-3S Class Fall 2019 – ALP - Saturdays

Location: Rochdale Village
Registration: Not required

These classes will help you prepare for taking and passing the High School Equivalency (HSE) Exam. Classroom instruction covers all five subject areas which include math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. Applicants must register in person. Crazy 8s STEM Club

Kids in grades 3 through 5 can join us for Rochdale's Crazy 8s STEM Club focusing on math, where they'll build stuff, run and jump, make music, and make a mess. It’s a totally new kind of math club! They’ll get to do mischief-making activities and get to take home some cool gadgets.

It is Rocket Science a STEM workshop for Children

Location: Rochdale Village
Registration: Registration is not yet open for this program. Please check back closer to the program date.

An interactive workshop that explores rocketry basics and scientific concepts such as Newton's laws of motion through various crafts and activities.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Date Formed: May 10, 2002. Re-chartered on November 15, 2007

Significant Accomplishments: Through the Friends advocacy and community outreach efforts. Additional grants provided funds for the purchase of a copy machine, laptops, 27" TV, Herman Miller furniture et al. The Friends also support the library on the annual trips to Albany and City Hall. Also attend the Fight out against Crime night. 

Friends Fun Facts: Created, published, and sold a cookbook at an event with samples of cookbook entries. Also organized Annual Mothers'' and Fathers' Day Plant and Bake Sales
Tea Tasting and poetry reading events. Creation of a African American History Month book, Forgotten Black Heroes. Participated in Harlem Book Fair.
