Music from Santo Domingo with Berto Reyes and his Band!

Location: Richmond Hill
Registration: Not required

Berto Reyes and his band will perform traditional music, known as perico ripiao, on the güira, drum, and accordion. They will also play merengue típico, a traditional Dominican merengue, and merenhouse, a blend of merengue with American hip-hop and rap, with the added sounds of sax, bass, and conga. Come to learn about and enjoy Dominican music.

Warm Heart, Cool Head - Presented by Global Harmony House

Learn to maintain the balance of responding to situations with a cool head and to people with a warm heart. What the world needs now is people who can naturally express caring for others, who see the goodness at the core of every heart, yet at the same time remain stable in the face of crises and challenges.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments:
Our Friends Group works with the library to provide books, materials, programs and more for one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Queens. We are excited to announce an exciting new reading series event. We are always looking more members!

Friends Fun Facts: The Richmond Hill Library was founded by the Twentieth Century Club on April 8, 1899. It became part of the Queens Borough Public Library in 1901. In 1905, the present Carnegie building was opened for service.
