Have you ever wished you could speak Spanish? Learn how to use Transparent Language Online and benefit from an eight-week group learning experience too! You will need a Queens Library card and a computer, tablet, or smartphone to access Transparent Language to do your weekly assignments. Bring Your Story: Day of the Dead Tradition

Location: Richmond Hill
Registration: Not required

Mexican-born artist Aurelia Fernandez will discuss ancient traditions surrounding the Day of the Dead altar and demonstrate the making of it. She will also teach attendees in this workshop how to make calaveras---clay versions of the elaborately decorated sugar skulls used in Mexico. This is a crafts program for the entire family; all ages are welcome. Space is limited and is on a first-come, first- served basis.

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments:
Our Friends Group works with the library to provide books, materials, programs and more for one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Queens. We are excited to announce an exciting new reading series event. We are always looking more members!

Friends Fun Facts: The Richmond Hill Library was founded by the Twentieth Century Club on April 8, 1899. It became part of the Queens Borough Public Library in 1901. In 1905, the present Carnegie building was opened for service.
