• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Date Formed: June 12, 2007. Re-chartered February 20, 2013

Current Board Members:

President - Robbie Garrison

Vice President - Erika Brassoi

Treasurer - Corinne Alpert

Secretary - Hyleta Babb Summers

Member at Large - Gloria Walker

Significant Accomplishments: One of the most successful and fun events the Friends have sponsored was the jazz and wine reception for Assembly Member Nettie Mayersohn when she retired. The Assemblywoman was a stalwart support of the Friends and as such, was made an honorary lifetime Friends member. The Friends also support the library by manning tables and collecting signatures against budget cuts. One of our biggest community outreach event is the   Electhester Street Fair.

Friends Fun Facts: Our members are very talented and have coordinated a number of great programs, i.e. The Friends presented an Art Exhibit by the Black Artist Association of Long Island, Read to Me Jamboree for grand parents and an Alzheimer workshop.

Contact Info: Community Library Manager Andrew Gibson at 718-591-4343.
