Toddler Learning Center

Play and learn with your child in a five-session workshop that includes toys, games, puzzles, and other items specially selected to enhance a toddler's educational and physical development. Child-development specialists will be available to talk to parents and caregivers about the special concerns of child rearing. Ages 18-38 months. The Fire Safety Show with the Rappin' Fireman

Job Search Strategies for the Mature Worker

Friends of the Pomonok Library present Hits of E.W.F. & Kool and the Gang

Travel with us and groove to some of the biggest hits of Earth, Wind, & Fire and Kool and the Gang.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments: One of the most successful and fun events the Friends have sponsored was the jazz and wine reception for Assembly Member Nettie Mayersohn when she retired. The Assemblywoman was a stalwart support of the Friends and as such, was made an honorary lifetime Friends member. The Friends also support the library by manning tables and collecting signatures against budget cuts. One of our biggest community outreach event is the   Electhester Street Fair.

Friends Fun Facts: Our members are very talented and have coordinated a number of great programs, i.e. The Friends presented an Art Exhibit by the Black Artist Association of Long Island, Read to Me Jamboree for grand parents and an Alzheimer workshop.
