Sean Condron, born in Queens to Irish parents, is a modern day bard whose repertoire spans the length and breadth of American music, itself a melting pot of world influences - from sentimental favorites to Italian and Spanish classics and everything in between. Armed with just a guitar and voice, his energetic and humor filled performances have delighted audiences the world over.

I-Heung Lee in Concert

Music critics have described I-Heung Lee’s performances as graceful, thoughtful, and intelligent, touched with a unique style of artistic sophistication. She performs extensively in Asia. She has performed in many major concert halls including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York, Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, City Concert Hall of Hong Kong, and Shanghai Concert Hall in China.

Creative Aging: Watercolor Workshop

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments: One of the most successful and fun events the Friends have sponsored was the jazz and wine reception for Assembly Member Nettie Mayersohn when she retired. The Assemblywoman was a stalwart support of the Friends and as such, was made an honorary lifetime Friends member. The Friends also support the library by manning tables and collecting signatures against budget cuts. One of our biggest community outreach event is the   Electhester Street Fair.

Friends Fun Facts: Our members are very talented and have coordinated a number of great programs, i.e. The Friends presented an Art Exhibit by the Black Artist Association of Long Island, Read to Me Jamboree for grand parents and an Alzheimer workshop.
