Yoga on the Beach

This class will help you to align your mind, body, and breath. Feel free to bring a mat if you have one or a towel if you don't. This class will provide a welcoming environment for all. The program will take place on the beach, near the boardwalk on Beach 94th Street. If it's raining, we will be inside Peninsula Library. What A Wonderful World At Queens Library: The Louis Armstrong Eternity Band Concert Series

Grammy Award nominee David Ostwald and his ensemble The Louis Armstrong Eternity Band come to Queens Public Library to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Louis Armstrong’s original recording of the iconic song ‘What a Wonderful World.’ This is a song inspired by the Great Satchmo’s life in Queens – a song that still inspires millions of people around the world!

Summer Fun at Rockaway Beach

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from July 6 thru August 26 join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, NYC Parks and Queens Library at Shore Front Parkway and Beach 98th Street for some Summer Fun at Rockaway Beach! Enjoy free lawn games, arts and crafts, summer activities, a reading area and more from 10 AM to 4 PM. The play area is open to the public - all ages welcome. QEDC: Business Plan Competition

Location: Peninsula

The Queens Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition begins in September 2018. The competition gives entrepreneurs a chance to strengthen their business knowledge, learn about business trends, and gain insights into starting and growing a business while also introducing them to the vast resources available to them at Queens Library. Learn more at these information sessions and watch for more news about classes starting in October.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments: Hosted three successful rummage sales, bake sales, snack bar sales, Anniversary Celebration parties, eat meet and greet parties, membership drives, and a Membership Thank You Luncheon party. Prior to Super Storm Sandy, the Friends had monthly Boards meetings and a very active community interaction. However, while Friends wait for the construction of their new library, they continue to remain committed in serving the Peninsula.

Friends Fun Facts: Currently have a total of 60 paid members, 10 of them are Supporting Members.
