Read to a Dog

Location: North Hills
Registration: Not required

Children can select a book to read aloud to Jami, who has been certified as a therapy pet partner. Reading aloud improves literacy skills, and animals are ideal reading companions because they create a relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment. Space is limited and available first-come, first-served.

Are you a Harry Potter super fan? Fans will have an opportunity to test their Harry Potter knowledge at participating library locations. To enter you must identify the Harry Potter quote. If you answer correctly your name will be entered into the drawing to win Harry Potter prizes.

Harry Potter 20: Tween Film and Book Discussion: "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"

Read the novel by J.K. Rowling and then join us for a screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001, PG) starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Maggie Smith. Anesthesia and You: What to Expect When Having Surgery

Location: North Hills
Registration: Not required

Sandhya Malhotra, MD, of the Global Physicians Network Foundation, will discuss what to expect when you're having a medical procedure and how to prepare so you can optimize your health before and after surgery.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
