Language Learning Group for Beginners in French

Have you ever wished you could speak French? Learn how to use Transparent Language Online and benefit from an eight -week group learning experience too! You will need a Queens Library card and a computer, tablet, or smartphone to access Transparent Language to do your weekly assignments. Bring your device to the first session for help in setting up your Transparent Language Online account. Space is limited and preregistration is required.

Read to a Dog

Children can select a book to read aloud to Jami, who has been certified as a therapy pet partner. Reading aloud improves literacy skills, and animals are ideal reading companions because they create a relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment. Space is limited and available first-come, first-served.

Pop/Jazz vocalist Cody Childs performs the music of the 60s featuring the songs of Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Ben E. King, The Young Rascals, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and others. . This tribute includes biographical notes of the artists as well as a performance of their hits such as “Respect”, “Don’t Let The Green Grass Fool You”, “Stand By Me”, ”Knock On Wood”, "Groovin’ ", "I Heard It Through The Grapevine” and more.

Bilingual Birdies Concert: Songs for Young Children

Children accompanied by their parents or adult caregivers will learn new words and enjoy music, movement, and songs in English and Spanish at this live, interactive multicultural concert for celebrating summer reading. Space is limited. Preregistration is required.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
