Join us for a discussion of "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot. Her name was Henrietta Lacks; she was a farmer whose cells—taken without her knowledge in 1951—became one of the most important tools in medicine, vital for developing the polio vaccine, cloning, gene mapping, and more. Henrietta's cells have been bought and sold by the billions, yet she remains virtually unknown and her family can't afford health insurance.

The Book Club At Mitchell-Linden

Join us for a discussion of "The Guilty" by David Baldacci. Will Robie, the government's most disciplined and lethal assassin, fails a critical assignment. When his father is arrested and charged with murder, Will returns to his hometown of Cantrell, Mississippi. As he digs into his father's case he is drawn into the underside of Cantrell and is met with skepticism, mistrust and violence.

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
