Join us this month for a selection of movies featuring great love stories. Sneak Peek Book Discussion

Read and discuss a book before the finished copies are even published. A limited number of advance reader copies of "Patriot Number One: American Dreams in Chinatown" by Lauren Hilgers are being made available by Crown Publishing to those who want to participate in this discussion.
This is the true story of a dauntless family and captures the joys and indignities of starting from scratch in a new country and the stubborn allure of the American dream. Books are available at the reference desk.

The Book Club At Mitchell-Linden

Join us for a discussion of "Patriot Number One" by Lauren Hilgers. The book draws a wonderfully intimate portrait of Chinese immigrants. Lauren Hilgers follows her irrepressible protagonist from a village in southern China to Queens, New York. Her book is chockablock with fresh observations and humor about both worlds.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
