ShapeUp NYC: Chair Aerobics for Adults

Location: Middle Village
Registration: Not required

ShapeUp NYC instructor Doris leads this chair-based class to enhance strength, flexibility, and cardio. Exercises target both upper and lower body. Participants can work at their own pace based on ability. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel and water bottle. Space is limited. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Middle School Book Club: "Hidden Figures"

Join us for our middle grade book club where we will be reading "Hidden Figures" in honor of Black History Month! We will discuss the remarkable lives of the four African American women who made remarkable contributions to the NASA space program while confronting segregation. We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
