ShapeUp NYC: Chair Aerobics for Adults

ShapeUp NYC instructor Doris leads this chair-based class to enhance strength, flexibility, and cardio. Exercises target both upper and lower body. Participants can work at their own pace based on ability. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel and water bottle. Space is limited. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Mariachi Tapatío de Álvaro Paulino

Founded in 1983, Mariachi Tapatio de Álvaro Paulino, under the direction of Puebla-born Mexican Álvaro Paulino, is considered one of the finest mariachi bands in New York City. The band's music includes “corridos,” a form of storytelling in song that is enjoyed by young and old.

Bring Your Story: Queens Memory Podcast Premiere, Episode 3

Come listen and share with us in a three-part listening event series to celebrate the launch of the first season of the Queens Memory Podcast, “Memories of Migration.” The podcast draws from oral history recordings with Queens residents. Chair Stretching and Guided Meditation

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
