Writing from the Heart: A Ten-Week Workshop in Creative Writing with Dr. Maxine Fisher

Do you have the urge to write a story or essay -- perhaps based on your own personal experience -- but don't know how or where to begin? Come join a group of people who share a love of the written word. Dr. Maxine Fisher taught writing for many years at Queens College and is a published author of books for children and young adults. In addition, she writes for children's television. Space is limited. First-come, first-served.

Maspeth Adult Book Discussion: "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt

Shots rang out in Savannah's grandest mansion in the misty, early morning hours of May 2, 1981. Was it murder or self-defense? For nearly a decade, the shooting and its aftermath reverberated throughout this hauntingly beautiful city of moss-hung oaks and shaded squares.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
