GetCoveredNYC

Location: Lefrak City
Registration: Not required

GetCoveredNYC is a city-wide initiative to enroll New Yorkers in health insurance and provide them with access to primary and preventive care at NYC Health and Hospitals. The initiative is a partnership between NYC Health and Hospitals, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Human Resources Administration and MetroPlus.

Board Games for Adults

Learn A New Board Game

Dodgeball Friday

Book Discussion Group

Please join us for the meeting of the Lefrak City Book Group. This month’s book is Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury. It is the story of Montag, a government employee in charge of burning forbidden books, who meets a woman who challenges his entire worldview by daring to read.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments: The Friends hosted 150 guests for their Black History Month Celebration. They co-host the popular Open Forum, a monthly town-hall meeting style meeting that engages the elected officials and community leaders by deviling into some of the biggest issues facing New Yorkers.

Friends Fun Facts: The Friends host Family Fun Night an annual event that honors our top students and celebrates their achievements with games and great food.
