Prenatal Education

Break Dance by The Breaking Institute of the Arts

The class explores the history of hip-hop dance in the form of Breaking, Rocking and the development of creative movement. Each student is introduced to the foundation of the dance form to build their own individual style, vocabulary, technique and flow.

Mad Science Workshops

Come Join the STACKS program and experience some fun science experiments with the Mad Science Team! Whether its exploring the power of magnets, taking a tour on an electric freeway or making your own robot, you will surely have fun while learning some interesting facts about science. All of the cool kids know that libraries rock! There are so many wonderful activities and books to read. Every day holds a new adventure at the library. Join Alexair Dreams Storytelling as we sing, dance, and tell stories about our awesome library! For ages 6 to 10.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments: The Friends hosted 150 guests for their Black History Month Celebration. They co-host the popular Open Forum, a monthly town-hall meeting style meeting that engages the elected officials and community leaders by deviling into some of the biggest issues facing New Yorkers.

Friends Fun Facts: The Friends host Family Fun Night an annual event that honors our top students and celebrates their achievements with games and great food.
