Drop-In Computer Service for Older Adults

Ages 50+
Learn basic computer skills: the functions of a computer, browsing the web, creating an e-mail address, and composing digital documents like business letters and resumes. Sessions are 30 minutes maximum and are on a first come, first served basis. Registration is not required.

Prenatal Education

These six sessions will provide education and support for pregnant people and their families. Come to connect with other pregnant people to learn, share, and support one another. Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments: The Friends hosted 150 guests for their Black History Month Celebration. They co-host the popular Open Forum, a monthly town-hall meeting style meeting that engages the elected officials and community leaders by deviling into some of the biggest issues facing New Yorkers.

Friends Fun Facts: The Friends host Family Fun Night an annual event that honors our top students and celebrates their achievements with games and great food.
