Raising Awareness for Peripheral Vascular Disease

In Queens alone there is a high prevalence of late-stage PVD, but this can change. Summer Reading: Solar System

This program will review the solar system including the location of the planets within it, their distance from the sun, and the visual appearance of the planets. Children will make penny top replicas of each planet. As an added challenge, children will attempt to get all the planet tops spinning in the proper order at the same time! Moving for Life is a scientifically based self-care fitness program using gentle warm-ups, light aerobics, and targeted strengthening in a way that is fun and enjoyable for all! Summer Reading: Cookie Moon Phases

Children ages 6-11 will use books and videos to learn about the phases of the moon and what causes the moon to change. We will discuss what we already know about the moon and what we've learned together. As a group will we research the current dates moon phase. Children will use cookies to demonstrate the phases of the moon. A short poetry worksheet will be completed and shared with the group.

Anxiety and Depression 101

But sometimes we experience anxiety that is more than temporary or that interferes with daily life. Summer Reading: Alien Invasion in a Box

Teams ages 6-11 have 30 minutes to dress up one of their teammates as a space alien using only what is provided in a box of stuff. They must also write a brief description of the alien, their home planet, and why they have come to earth. Descriptions will be read to the group during the alien invasion while you show off your newly created alien!
