Free Citizenship Classes

Location: Elmhurst
Registration: Not required

Learn everything you need to know about American history, government and culture to pass the citizenship exam. Register in person at the library on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10am to 1pm or call 718-278-4303 to preregister in advance. Students should have a copy of their green card when they come to register. Participants must attend the entire 12 week class series. Candidates must be Green Card holders. The first day of class is registration day when they should have a copy of their Green Card.

Coloring Therapy For Adults

Break Dance by The Breaking Institute of the Arts

The class explores the history of hip-hop dance in the form of breaking, rocking and the development of creative movement. Each student is introduced to the foundation of the dance form to build their own individual style, vocabulary, technique, and flow.

Conversation "The Artist and The Writer" (In English and Spanish)

As part of the programming of the ELMHURST LITERARY VISUAL MURAL project - the Barco de Papel Cultural Center and its Visual Arts Program will together, in addition to the Intercultural Cardboard Press, Inc., host an event for the community about the influence of visual arts in the public space, the sociocultural impact on the community, the mural literary theme, as well as historical aspects of its location. Featuring the writer Jaime Manrique and the artist Alexis Mendoza.

Children's Floral Creation Workshop

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
