NY Aquarium: Discovering Coral Reefs

Join the STACKS Program for an exploration of incredible coral reef habitats! Find out why corals and the reefs they form are important homes for fish and many other aquatic animals. Discover the diversity of life on the reef as we investigate bio-facts, meet a live reef animal, and learn about how animals live and grow in this underwater habitat.

Urban Stages Presents "The Gates of Equality"

This dramatic presentation describes the life of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through his speeches, press conferences, and fictional narratives.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Date Formed: February 5, 1998. Re-chartered October 19, 2008

Significant Accomplishments: The Friends organize a series of successful programs, i.e. art exhibits and open mic. They also raised funds through their Mother’s Day Flower sale.


Friends Fun Facts: The Friends take care of the turtle tank and the kids love to play with the turtles.
