ShapeUp NYC: Beginner Yoga

Location: Corona
Registration: Not required

ShapeUp NYC instructor Jairo leads this fitness class where participants will practice beginning Vinyasa postures to warm up the body, bring flexibility to all muscles and joints, and wake up the nervous system followed by stretching exercises and ending with deep relaxation techniques. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for exercise; bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join us for this free workshop and learn about the most recent updates on immigration policies & your rights as an immigrant. Topics include federal policy changes, public charge, how to interact with ICE in both public and private settings, warrants, protections from discrimination, how to avoid immigration fraud, and city services.

Youth Book Creation Workshop with Libro Abierto/Open Book (Ages 8-12)

Location: Corona
Registration: Not required

In this series of eight workshops, visual artists and poets are co-teaching to introduce students to creative writing and visual art exercises that will later be bound into a combination of book structures. Students will learn pop-up books, non-adhesive structure using paper interlocking shapes, a combination of accordion folds, and handmade papermaking. This is for ages 8-12; there is limited space. Youth Book Creation Workshop with Libro Abierto/Open Book (Ages 13 - 18)

In these eight consecutive workshops, students will have the opportunity to work with a writer and a group of visual artists to generate images and text that will later become pages in a variety of handmade books. Process over product will be emphasized although students will have made a variety of handmade books expressing their ideas/concerns by the end of the series. This is for ages 13 - 18; there is limited space. Contact Corona Library for more information.

Please join us for the Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH). DQSH is a program for children ages 3 – 8 years old that raises awareness of gender diversity, promotes self-acceptance, and builds empathy through an enjoyable literary experience.
