Write On With The NY Writers Coalition!

Everyone has a voice. Everyone has a story. Bring yours and join us for writing and sharing work in a supportive, respectful environment. Poetry, plays, short stories, and everything in between – all crafted in one room! Free Childbirth Education

Location: Cambria Heights
Registration: Not required

This three-hour class will help you build confidence in your body’s strength and abilities for birth. Come learn about the stages of labor, how to prepare, and what to expect. This class is a must for anyone who is pregnant, a support person, or considering having a child in the next year. Come learn from a Certified Childbirth Educator. There will be plenty of time for Q&A. To reserve a seat, please sign up with Cambria Heights staff in person or via phone at 718-528-3535.

Learn to Dance Soca!

Instructor Davin McLeod shares the history and movements of this masquerade dance, the "soul of Calypso" and "the power of movement," which is performed at the annual Caribbean Carnival. You do not need to know how to dance to participate, but you will certainly feel like a dancer when you leave!

Literature to Life Stage Presentation of "Black Boy" by Richard Wright

Based on Richard Wright's searing autobiography, performed by Tarantino Smith, and adapted and directed by Wynn Handman, "Black Boy" dramatizes the author's journey from childhood innocence to adulthood in the Jim Crow South. It is both the unashamed confession of a proud non-conformist and a profound indictment of social injustice and human suffering.

An Evening of Art with the Cambria Heights Library Craft Artist Extraordinaire

As a Friend, you will:
• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
