Queens Library Rocks! with Drum Beats Percussionist Freddy Dugaurd

This upbeat and engaging three session drum workshop will have children rocking to the beat. Percussionist Freddy Dugard will kick-off Summer Reading "Library Rocks" with musical style and rhythmic patterns. Beginners and experinced participants are welcome. For children 8 to 12. Space is limited. Preregistration is required.

The Empowered Gardener Series: Reclaim Your Yard

Use flowers and natural herbicides to get rid of those buzzing pests as well as attract pollinators during the summer months. We will also discuss garden empowering habits with insects such as lady bugs, non-honey bees, and a variety of empowering plants. Learn how to make a soda bottle mosquito catcher.

QEDC: Business Plan Competition

The Queens Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition begins in September 2018. The competition gives entrepreneurs a chance to strengthen their business knowledge, learn about business trends, and gain insights into starting and growing a business while also introducing them to the vast resources available to them at Queens Library. Learn more at these information sessions and watch for more news about classes starting in October.

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.
As a Friend, you will:
• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
