Open House for NYC Schools and Student Success

Toddler Time

Storytime is a great way to foster literacy skills and encourage reading! Children 2-4 years old accompanied by an adult, are invited to the library for read alouds, fingerplays, music, and peer interaction. Families will have the opportunity to connect with each other for support and resources.

Goosebumps Galore!

Nutrition Workshops for Children Ages 6-12

Live Green! Build a Sustainable City

Location: Baisley Park
Registration: Registration is not yet open for this program. Please check back closer to the program date.

ArchforKids and Queens Library presents STEAM at Baisley Park Library
Participants will build a model of a sustainable Queens neighborhood- one that includes a "green" library in a park setting. In these hands-on workshops, participants will collectively create structures to make up a sustainable neighborhood. Space is limited. Preregistration is required. For ages 6 to 12.

Animal Show with Jason Reilly

Location: Baisley Park
Registration: Not required

Join Jason Reilly as he introduces his animal friends. Children will learn where these animals are from, what they eat, when they sleep, and how they protect themselves. Meet frogs, bugs, a bunny, guinea pigs, chinchillas, mice, reptiles, birds, hermit crabs, and a chicken. Enjoy dancing, singing, and a surprise activity at the end of the show.

Dear Kitty: Literacy Lessons of Anne Frank

Location: Baisley Park
Registration: Not required

This is a literacy focused program in which students in grades 4-6 explore Anne Frank through her writing. Students are encouraged to create a short diary with drawings that reflect themselves and the world.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments:
The Friends organized a wonderful “Wine and Cheese Fundraiser and Membership Drive” to support Buy-A-Book program and supported this year’s rally at Baisley Park to save libraries.
