AARP Foundation Tax Counseling for Low Income Older Adults

Location: Auburndale
Registration: Not required

IRS/TCE-Certified volunteers, sponsored by AARP Foundation, will complete and e-file your 2018 tax returns. On a first come first served basis. You must bring a NYS Driver’s License or Non Driver’s ID; a copy of the 2017 return; SS card or ITIN for everyone on your return; SSA-1099 form; all W-2 , 1099R, 1099G, 1099 MISC or other 1099 forms; Healthcare forms; Self-employment records; 1098T from college; Mortgage statement; a cancelled check. AARP flyers are available at the library.

Self-Help Queens North Friendly Visiting is a program that matches homebound seniors with volunteers in their community who make weekly visits. Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. There will also be information about the Case Management and NY Connects Programs. What You Need to Know about Cancer and Being Your Healthiest and Happiest

Come learn key information about protecting your health from cancer and other illnesses, including facts and statistics about cancer, as well as who should be screened and when. We will also focus on strengthening our communication skills to encourage those we love who are at risk to pursue relevant health care. Participants will have a chance to ask licensed health professionals important health questions in an open and encouraging environment.

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
