It's Time for Kind: Kindness Bingo

It's Time for Kind: Make a Mural

New York City is a city of murals and why not a mural for kindness? Children of all ages will be participating in the making of a twenty-foot mural extolling the images they will love to color: their ideas of kindness such as a kind thought or a kind deed for a friend, an animal, a community, or for nature and environment. Music and Movement Workshop for Seniors

Linda Choldenko leads a music and movement workshop for seniors 50+. Ms. Choldenko is professional dancer, director, and choreographer. She worked on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theatre, touring companies, and in Paris and Montreal. She has been a Teaching Artist with Lincoln Center for 20 years.

Working with Clay: A Workshop

Family Film

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Date Formed:  In 1998. Re-chartered on May 3, 2009

Significant Accomplishments: The Friends has been existence for 15 years. They have provided funds to purchase books and furniture. They have hosted numerous programs for children and adults that include chair yoga, Museum of Modern Art slide presentations and lecture series.

Friends Fun Facts: The Friends continue to meet regularly in their temporary home while their brand new library is being built and scheduled to open in 2015.
