Harry Potter Escape Room

You and your friends have been given detention by Professor Snape and locked in his potions study. His timing could not be worse, because only you know that Voldemort is on his way to Hogwarts. You have 30 minutes to use your potions and spell skills to escape and warn everyone.

Shape Up NYC: High Intensity Interval Training for Adults

Instructor Erica leads this total body workout which works on muscle strength and endurance while keeping the heart rate up to burn calories and improve cardiovascular health. Prepare for Your Care: Learn How to Have Your End-of-Life Wishes Honored

Location: Ridgewood

Reimagine End of Life Week is a city-wide exploration of big questions about life and death through creativity and conversation. A workshop leader from Reimagine will first lead participants in creating personal six word memoirs and then provide the tools for participants to identify wishes for medical care when living with a progressive or serious illness or at end of life. Learn how to talk more effectively with doctors and family and friends about your wishes and those of loved ones.

Neighborhood Cats TNR Workshop

Are you ready to be part of the solution for feral and stray cats in your neighborhood? Our expert instructors will teach you best practices for Trap-Neuter-Return and colony management plus provide you with information on NYC resources. Attendees will become TNR certified, making them eligible for free and low cost services like spay/neuter, trap rentals, and expert assistance.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments: Organize successful Annual Fun Days to raise awareness and funds for the Library. Secured $3,300 in donations from local banks to purchase reading Organized Bu-a-Tree Campaign and raised $3,000 to purchase children books. Recently received a sizeable award from the Queens Fellowship Grant Making Committee.

Friends Fun Facts: Created a pictorial history of the Ridgewood Library. Planted and maintained a perennial garden, winning the Molly Parnis dress Up Your Neighborhood Award in 1998.Participated in the local Myrtle Avenue Santa Parade.
