ShapeUp NYC: Chair Yoga

Location: Rego Park
Registration: Not required

Instructor Melissa Siegel leads this beginner level chair-based class with a focus on getting more in touch with the body through breathing and body flexibility exercises. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and a smile! Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Life and Art of Vincent van Gogh

Location: Rego Park
Registration: Registration is not yet open for this program. Please check back closer to the program date.

Artist Rita Tabb will discuss the life and work of Vincent van Gogh, a post-Impressionist painter whose work, notable for its beauty, emotion and color, greatly influenced 20th-century art. Following the discussion, participants will create their own works of art with crayons and colored pencils, using photos of van Gogh's work as inspiration. Seating is limited. Preregistration is required.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
