Titanic's Survivors: Where Did They Go in New York City?

Location: Forest Hills

700 survivors from the Titanic were rescued by the RMS Carpathia and were brought to New York City. Eric Cimino, assistant professor in history and political science at Molloy College, will present an illustrated talk about the next part of that story: what happened to the survivors when they left the rescue ship. Join us and gain insight into a little known aspect of the sinking and discover the central role New York City and its institutions played in the care of the Titanic survivors.

Protecting Our Democracy: A Let's Talk Democracy Forum

Join us as CUNY Professor Benjamin Carter Hett gives us a look back at the mistakes made in Europe in the 1930s that led to the rise of dictatorships, fascism, and the Nazi movement under Adolph Hitler in Germany. By understanding why that democracy collapsed so quickly and completely, we can find resonance today as democracy is again under attack here and around the world.

Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is hosting library office hours to listen to constituent/community concerns and to make his office more accessible to the public.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
