Moving for Life

Location: Forest Hills

Moving for Life is a scientifically based self-care fitness program using gentle warm-ups, light aerobics, and targeted strengthening in a way that is fun and enjoyable for all! Workouts can be done seated or standing. You are encouraged to do what is comfortable and modify based on your energy, range of motion, or fitness level. We start where you are, so don’t worry if you haven’t been moving in a while. All are welcome!

Coding with Google CS First: Storytelling

Location: Forest Hills
Registration: By phone or in person

Learn coding with Google CS First! In this coding club, students ages 9-12 use Scratch to tell fun and interactive stories. Only 12 spots are available; preregistration is required. Sign up in person at the Forest Hills Children's Room reference desk. Registration starts at our Summer Reading Kickoff Party on June 7. Club members must be able to attend all 8 sessions.

Summer Reading: Craft Time!

Children ages 6-11 will create a craft inspired by our Summer Reading theme Libraries Rock! Preregistration is not required, but the program is limited to 12 children and is on a first-come, firs-t serve” basis. Summer Reading: Stuyvesant Tutoring (2)

Location: Forest Hills
Registration: Registration is not yet open for this program. Please check back closer to the program date.
Details: Customers are required to attend all sessions of this program. Registering for this session will reserve your spot for the entire program.

Parents of youngsters entering grades 2 to 5 in September: Stuyvesant H.S. students will tutor children in ELA and Math for a total of two hours a week for 9 weeks this summer, beginning July 3.
Preregistration is required, as space is very limited and tutors work with small groups. Sign up in person at the Forest Hills Children's Room reference desk. Children should be able to attend all 9 sessions.

Universal Healthcare: A Community Dialogue

Location: Forest Hills
Registration: Not required

Len Rodberg, Ph.D, board member of Physicians for a National Health Program, New York Metro Chapter, will discuss single-payer national health insurance. Under a single-payer system, all residents of the U.S. would be covered for all medically necessary services. Join us for a conversation about a proposal that would allow patients free choice of doctor and hospital without financial barriers such as co-pays and deductibles and would allow doctors autonomy over patient care.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
