Memories of Migration: Common Thread – Making a Community Story Quilt

Professor Chi Ying and Her Students: Glorious Voice from the Heart

Vocal Professor Chi Ying was born in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music performance from the China Conservatory of Music and with a master's degree from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The concert will be divided into two parts: one with piano accompaniment and the other with electro-acoustic accompaniment. The performance will not have a host announcing the program, as each performer will be followed by another performer.

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.

Significant Accomplishments: Since the being chartered almost eight years ago, the Friends membership has grown to 100 current members.  Donated proceeds from the 2012 Holiday Christmas card sale to victims of Hurricane Sandy. The Friends p purchased 15 new headphones for our computer lab and flash drives for the Flushing Adult Learning Center.

Friends Fun Facts: The Friends also hosted a book fundraiser during a Kimche demonstration.
