Innovation! 2D to 3D - Spatial Thinking = STEAM Success

In this series of 12 programs, children ages 8-12 use traditional and tech tools to create in 2D and 3D, refining perception and spatial reasoning. 3D printing is the capstone experience, exposing participants to new concepts needed for future careers.

Chinese Singing Class with Professor Chi Ying

Location: Flushing

In these eight sessions of singing class, students will learn basic singing techniques and the theory behind them. Professor Chi Ying, a renowned artist specializing in Chinese folk songs, will train students how to understand an art song and express it artistically. Seats are limited; registration is at first class. Students will have opportunity to go on stage at a recital performance in May after the sessions are completed.

Free Citizenship Classes

Learn everything you need to know about American history, government, and culture to pass the citizenship exam. Participants must attend the entire 12-class series. Poetic Contemporary: Art and Poetry in 40 Years with Speaker Yan Li

Yan Li, poet, painter and writer, applauded the emerging modern art and committed himself to the awakening movement of individual freedom in China. Yan Li displayed his works at the Art Exhibition of the Star Society of Painters in 1979 and 1980. As the first painter to hold solo exhibitions of the avant-garde painting art in China at the time, Yan Li successfully displayed his paintings in 1984.

In 2009, 82-year-old Gao Yaojie, a famous Chinese gynecologist and AIDS activist, left for the United States. The author Lin Shiyu spent three years writing her oral history. The Friends p purchased 15 new headphones for our computer lab and flash drives for the Flushing Adult Learning Center.

Friends Fun Facts: The Friends also hosted a book fundraiser during a Kimche demonstration.
