Kickoff to Kindergarten

Details: Customers are required to attend all sessions of this program. Registering for this session will reserve your spot for the entire program.

This is an eight-week workshop for parents/caregivers and their three- and four-year-olds. Adult participants will learn how to help their children acquire the key skills they need to be successful in school. Parents/caregivers are coached on using one-on-one reading sessions, games, and hands-on activities to help their children build important language and literacy skills. Attendance at all eight sessions is expected. Registration required; please contact the library.

Free Citizenship Classes

Location: Broadway
Registration: Not required

Learn everything you need to know about American history, government, and culture to pass the citizenship exam. Participants must attend the entire 12-class series. Please arrive at 10 am sharp on Wednesday, April 3 to register in person at the Broadway Library (first-come, first-served) or call 718-278-4303 to preregister in advance. Candidates must be green card holders. The first day of class is the registration day when they should bring a copy of their green card.

Culture Pass Community Programs: Learning Through Art for Children

Join our Culture Pass Community Programs with Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Where does “space” begin? How far away is the moon? Where did the space shuttles go? These questions and more are answered as you discover Intrepid’s role in the Space Race, the importance of Earth’s atmosphere, and why astronauts need to wear spacesuits. This program, "Poof! Three-Dimensional Geometric Origami with Karen Wellington

Meet the Author: "Murder, Actually" by Cici McNair

Local author Cici McNair is a private detective handling all sorts of cases from missing persons to stolen art recovery, blackmail, money laundering, fraud, and murder. In between cases, she writes and has published several novels, true crime, and a memoir called “Detectives Don't Wear Seat Belts.”

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
